Oh, this is soo good.

Unfortunately, this has happened more times than I like to admit.

I’m over there thinking how am I going to recover from this (thanks babe, for sharing this).

Joke

What happened to T-Rex after his workout?

Action and Attitude

Ok I’m back…I took a little hiatus.

I missed writing….a lot.

It really helps me think more clearly.

The last 3 months felt like a year.

Our son went from regular trips to the principal’s office to an angel for month and then back to a feral cat.

I had major knee surgery.

I’ve been hitting PT hard…like its my job.

We celebrated hard over Christmas eating and drinking like Anthony Bourdan and his buddy Zamir in their trip to the Ukraine.

We almost bought a business.  The deal fell through.

Instead of setting a mantra this year I set specific goals one with quarterly objectives to achieve those goals.

Buying  a business and the objectives that get us to landing one is our top priority.

Oh and I got fired for the first time in my career.  More on this in a future post.

So here’s how I’m navigating this roller coaster of a 3 month stretch.

Tony Robbins.

Well not exactly but I heard Tony Robbins on a few of my favorite podcasts recently.  He is doing the podcast circuit to launch his new book.

And I found this advice he gave on one of the podcasts helpful for this moment in my life.

  1. Focus on what you, not what you don’t have

  2. Focus on the future, not the past

  3. Focus on what you can control, not what you can’t

So I’m focusing on what I have control over my attitude and my actions.

Every day I wake up with the attitude of gratitude for what I have.  And that no one or anything can stop me.

And each day I focus on my actions.  1) Buying a business and 2) in the interim getting a new job because that is what will pay the bills tomorrow.

So LFG!  2024 is going to be epic!

This Week's Interesting Thing:

My dad is an AFOL.

An Adult Fans of Legos.

Check this lil’ bitch out. Proud of himself like a 3-year-old who shit on the potty for the firs time.

The funny thing is…I didn’t even make this shit (the acronym) up.

And it’s not just a trend with adults and Legos.

Adults are into toys and activities that were once considered kids’ things (bedtime stories on Calm app, Build-a-Bear after dark, the Barbie movie was made for adults).

It’s called elder-tainment or ki-dults.

Our family is into puzzles.

Give us a 500 piecer and we will sit around a table and “GO TO WOOOORK”.

Until our lil’ Godzilla (our 1-year-old) comes by and snags a few pieces off the table.

There is nothing that collectively summons group rage like lil’ Leona messing up our puzzle game.

The reason for this trend seems to be three things:

1) Nostalgia, especially with Legos because it takes the builder back to their childhood and a simpler time.

2) Connection, with others by doing something active together and sharing an interest. There are some serious Lego communities on the interwebs.

and what I believe is the most important one.

3) Anxiety relief. Because it gives us breaks from screens and I would hypothesize a sense of accomplishment of reaching a goal. Achieving goals become rarer as we age.

So here’s an idea;

I find myself playing with these STEM kits my kids check out from the library.

So the million dollar idea Adult STEM kits you can buy or rent.

Think of a kit that gives you everything you need to build a sweet fucking potato gun that you can launch through your least favorite neighbor’s yard.

Also how much dad cred would you have with the neighborhood kids when you accidentally launch it through Mr. Mike’s window because your aim was off slightly.

What is your idea for kid-dult activities or products?
